"Some People Come Into Our Lives" Graphic 45 Enchanted Forest card

Hello Crafty Friends!

Today is my day to post at Quietfire Creations and I created a card using the sweet "Some People Come Into Our Lives" stamped sentiment from Quietfire Design:
Some People Come Into Our Lives - Companion Stamp Set - Mounted

The card not only used the loved Quietfire Design stamped sentiment, but also Graphic 45's Enchanted Forest paper and Spellbinders dies.
Such a beautiful stamp- the sentiment and the calligraphy!

Thanks so much for stopping by!  I do hope you enjoyed the card.  :)
Have a happy crafty day,

Tim Holtz 12 tags of 2016- June

Hello Crafty Friends.

How has your June been thus far?  I hope fabulous!  June has been absolutely beautiful here in Nova Scotia.  The past two weekends have been spent exploring places in the province and working on our gardens- which I love doing.  At night I have been slowly adding details to my version of Tim Holtz' June 2016 tag.  The finishing touches were completed today so I took the tag outside for sunny shots.

The base was created using Distress Stains in Salty Ocean, Mermaid Lagoon and Tumbled Glass.  While it was drying I stamped the distressed honeycomb background (from set THMM101) onto tissue paper.  Vintage Distress Collage Medium was applied to the dried tag and then the tissue paper was adhered. The seahorse from Mini Sand & Sea die and the large tag from Sizzix' 658784 both die cut the dried paper.
Tim Holtz' Dot Fad stencil had Distress Paint (Abandoned Coral) lightly applied and then flipped over and pressed against white card stock.  While it was on the paper, I applied Ranger's Texture Paste randomly to the stencil.  After drying it was adhered to the back of the tag.
The background had Picket Fence Distress Paint flicked randomly.  Then White Opal Liquid Pearls and Star Dust Stickles was used to create happy mini bubbles.  Faux plastic netting was added to base.  White card stock was die cut (from Sizzix' 661190 and 658759).  Pumice Stone Distress Stain was used on one die cut and after drying clear Distress Crackle was added.
Picket Fence Distress Paint was applied to an Industrious Stickers border and adhered as shown.
Lastly, Abandoned Coral paint was used on white card stock, dried, and hole punched randomly along all four edges.  Thick brown twine was woven in the holes (I like how it looks like rope).  Stickers from Chitchat was placed as shown with Distress Ink in Black Soot used as a border around each word.
Thanks for stopping by!  I do hope you enjoyed the tag.  :)

Have a happy, crafty day!
Big Hugs,
Kathy Jo

"Summer" Graphic 45 mini album

Happy Week of Summer to my Northern Hemisphere crafty friends!  Today I am doing a special post on the Elizabeth Craft Designs Blog to celebrate the first week of summer.  Yay!  Summer is easily my favorite season and it always seems that the time flies by.  This year I decided to create a little mini album to capture some of the happy summer memories.  The album is the first album I have created and it was so much fun...I know I will make more!  Perhaps some of my family and friends will see a mini album in their future.  (big smile!)

The mini album was not designed by me (I found the instructions on Pinterest) so I will provide a link to the album instruction at the end of this post.  However, I can share photos of my take on the album...and I have many to share!  Most of the album photos are on the ECD blog but I will give some sneak peeks below...

The outside of the album with Suzanne Cannon's lovely Summer die and bright and cheerful Graphic 45 papers:
The back of the album has Celebrate (because I think every summer day is a celebration of season):
The mini album is accordion style...so neat!
The album contains panels for photos or journaling.

Here are the outside panels...
...and the inside panels...
Oh- I so look forward to adding all my photos, journals and embellishments to this cheerful album!

Tim Holtz Creative Chemistry Challenge 3: "Summer" tag

Hello Crafty Friends!

It is the Week 3 Challenge for Tim Holtz' Creative Chemistry 101 Class.  This week's challenge is to use Distress Inks and Perfect Pearls on a project.  For my project I decided to make another tag- this one is inspired by the first day of summer tomorrow.  The tag is bright, happy, shiny and flowered...exactly how I think of summer.  :)
Tim's third technique using the Perfect Pearls and Distress Ink grabbed my crafty attention.  Inks used were Mowed Lawn, Squeezed Lemonade, Pickled Raspberry, and Peacock Feathers.  The Perfect Pearl colors (I think) were Green Patina and Blue Patina (not 100% sure as I removed the color label on accident).  After it was completely dried I applied Picket Fence Distress Stain on Tim Holtz' rubber stamp "Newsprint" and stamped the tag.  It was immediately dried using a heat tool.  Next, the gorgeous roses from Tim Holtz' Lady Rose stamp set were randomly stamped using Jet Black Archival Ink.  Distress Stain in Picket Fence was applied along the entire edge of the tag to give it a soft and bright appearance.  (Please note, I tried to zoom in on one area to capture the shimmer of the background...not sure how well it shows up but in person it is so pretty!)
The oh-so-lovely "Summer" die (designed by Suzanne Cannon for Elizabeth Craft Designs) die cut black and white card stock.
Frosted half pearls in various sizes were added.  Seam binding was dyed using the same Distress Inks and added to the bottom of the tag with two different styles of lace.  A wee black twine bow was the final touch.

Thanks for stopping by!  I do hope you enjoyed the tag.
Have a happy, crafty day!
Hugs,
Kathy Jo

Happy Anniversary!

Hello Crafty Friends!  Today is my day to post at Elizabeth Craft Designs and I am sharing a masculine card I made for my husband:  last weekend we celebrated our 9th anniversary!  Of course, I made a card for him. (big smile)  For the card I wanted to make something manly with cool papers and textures.  He received the card and told me how much he really liked it: the Happy Anniversary die cut, the "rustic metal looking papers" (his words), and the colors.  It appears that my hubby is not only a fan of my work but also of Elizabeth Craft Designs supplies.  :)

Sing as if no one is listening

Hello Crafty Friends!  .

Today is my day to post at Quietfire Creations and I am sharing a happy, summer sing card using Quietfire Design's lovely "The Woods Would be Very Silent" stamp set:
The Woods Would be Very Silent - Set of 5 Stamps - Mounted
The stamp set pairs up perfectly with BoBunny's recently released Secret Garden collection.
Here is a closeup of the cute bird and banners:
What is great about the stamp set is that you can use the sweet chickadee stamp instead of the bird image in the paper set.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  I do hope you enjoyed the cheerful card.  :)
Have a happy, crafty day!

Tim Holtz Summer of Creative Chemistry, Challenge 2

Hello Crafty Friends!

The second challenge for Tim's Summer of Creative Chemistry is to create a project using Distress Stains and a stamp.  For my tag, I used Distress Stains in Picket Fence, Spiced Marmalade, Scattered Straw, Rusty Hinge and Squeezed Lemonade.  Along the tag edges Distress Ink in Vintage Photo was applied.
Stamps from Fairytale Frenzy (CMS058) were used.  The butterfly and botanical flourish were both stamped using the Picket Fence Distress Stain.
After drying, the sentiment was stamped using Jet Black Archival Ink. Distress Stickles in Picket Fence was applied to "Ending".
Seam binding was dyed using the leftover Distress Stains on my craft mat.  A button was wrapped in Tim Holtz Tissue Tape and the tag was complete!

Thanks for stopping by!  I do hope you are having a great summer and that you enjoyed the tag!
Big Hugs,
Kathy Jo

Creative Chemistry Challenge 1

Hello Crafty Friends!

What an exciting summer this will be participating in Tim Holtz' Creative Chemistry classes.  It will be fun to go through the first two courses again and I am so looking forward to the new class in August...woo-who!

Tim's first challenge is to create a project using four or more colors of Distress Ink.  (Talk about a perfect excuse to get all inky!)  For my project I created a tag using Distress Inks in Twisted Citron, Antique Linen, Broken China, Frayed Burlap, Squeezed Lemonade, Peacock Feathers and Picket Fence.
Water was flicked on the tag and dried with a heat tool.  Twisted Citron was applied to white card stock and then torn.  It was adhered on tissue tape (making sure that the imagination definition was shown on the tape).  The sentiment (from Tim's "Possibilities" stamp set) was stamped using Archival Ink in Coffee.
Of course I had to use my two new Tim Holtz Sizzix Thinlits die sets (Wildflowers and Holiday Greens).  Holiday Greens die cut white vellum and Wildflowers die cut white card stock.  Wildflowers dies had Twisted Citron and Broken China inks applied.  The top die cut was adhered using foam tape.
First challenge and homework completed!  Thank you, Professor Holtz, for the fun homework/challenge!  :)

Hope you enjoyed the tag.  Thank you for stopping by and have a happy, crafty day!
Hugs,
Kathy Jo
