Butterfly "Thanks"

Hello Crafty Friends!

It is always nice to have some thank you cards handy to show appreciation for kindness.  This butterfly "Thanks" card came together quickly and is a perfect card for making several at once.

Here is a list of product used:

Elizabeth Craft Designs' "Thanks" (which is on sale now!) die cut dark colored patterned paper.  (Tip: mount paper on double sided adhesive paper prior to die cutting.  Makes it so very easy to mount!)
Form 4.25 x 5.5 tent fold card from white card stock.  Die cut white frame using white card stock.  Punch flowers from patterned papers.  Mount ombre patterned paper to card base.  Mount all die cut and punched goodies to card base.  (Although I used the We R Memory Keepers papers, other 6x6 pads would work.)
Card is complete!  Isn't is just bright and happy?  The Thanks and butterflies look so great together.  The card makes me smile.  :)

Thanks so much for stopping by!  I really appreciate it.
Big Crafty Hugs,
Kathy Jo

"Faithful Friend" MOJO Monday

Hello Crafty Friends!

Yesterday I dove into my paper scrap bin and created a card using scraps and Tim Holtz products.  Today I took another dive into the bin to create a feminine friend card.  The card is based on this week's MOJO Monday sketch:
The sweet stamped sentiment is from Quietfire Design's Always Be My Friend stamp set:
Always Be My Friend, Set of 3 Stamps - Mounted
That is one of my favorite Quietfire Design stamp sets...so lovely!
Scrap pieces of Basic Grey's Basic Curio were cut to size and Distress Ink in Hickory Smoke and Black Soot applied to the edges.   The sentiment was stamped onto white card stock using jet black Archival Ink.  Distress Inks in Tattered Rose and Victorian Velvet were applied to the edges.
Spellbinders' Silhouette die cut black card stock and a wee pink half pearl added.
Another scrappy card completed!  Not surprised that I kept those patterned papers as that collection was beautiful- especially the rose sheet.

Thank you very much for stopping by!
Have a happy, crafty day!
Big hugs,
Kathy Jo

"...Great Adventure" Tim Holtz scrap card

Hello Crafty Friends!

Earlier this week I noticed that my bin of paper scraps was very full.  Seeing the overrun bin made me realize that I need to start using up some of those scraps.  Today I am sharing a card made entirely from those "forgotten items" in my crafty space.
First scrap piece used was a nice sheet of Kraft.  Tim Holtz' Lace Stencil was used with Distress Paints in Mowed Lawn, Tumbled Glass, Scattered Straw and Picket Fence.  The paint was chosen so that the background would be more muted than if I had used my texture paste with reinkers.  Mowed Lawn was applied along the bottom edge of the paper, dried and then texture pasted with Tim Holtz' Burlap stencil.   Vintage Photo Distress Ink was used on the edges.
A wee piece of corrugate was in the bin (wow...I save everything!).  Picket Fence and Tumbled Glass Distress paints brightened up the corrugate.  A scrap piece of woodgrain paper had Tim Holtz' sentiment stamped using Jet Black Archival Ink.
The scrap piece of seam binding was dyed using Scattered Straw Distress Stain.  The crinkle ribbon was topped off with coordinating twine and a small half gem that I totally forgot I had.

Hope you liked the card!  Of course it was fun to make and a perfect excuse to use up those forgotten items.

Thanks for stopping by and have a happy, crafty day!
Hugs,
Kathy Jo

Tim Holtz May 2016 Tag

Happy Monday Crafty Friends!

Today is a holiday in Canada- Victoria Day- which most consider the first official weekend of summer.  Yes, you can definitely feel summer in the air and in the soul.  Yesterday morning I woke up at 5am to hear some wee birds chirping.  What a great sound to wake up to!  I decided to take advantage of the early wake up call and play in the craft room for a few hours.  The Tim Holtz May Tag was dry (texture paste from the night before) so I finished the project.
The stencil used was TH's Gothic THS026.  (The stencil goes so well with the Paris stamps, dies and embossing folder set from Michaels.)  Originally I had used Distress in Salty Ocean, Abandoned Coral, Shaded Lilac, Antique Linen and Scattered Straw on the stenciled/stamped tag but I decided I did not like the colors after all.  A softer look was desired so I mixed Picket Fence Distress Paint with a small amount of Seedless Preserves.  After drying, Picket Fence paint was applied to the edges.  Beautiful results in the Gothic Stenciled areas!
TH Chit Chat stickers were adhered as shown and Gold Stickles along the edges as a sparkly frame.  Five shimmery half gems were placed in an arc to the right of the Eiffel Tower.
The flower and lace were dyed using Shaded Lilac Distress Ink.
Such a fun tag to make!  So happy that I tried the stenciled tag with not only the Distress Stains and Ink but also the paints.  Love learning new techniques!

Thank you for stopping by!
Have a happy, crafty day!
Big Hugs,
Kathy Jo

"Some people like flowers like flowers..."

 Hello Crafty Friends!

Spring has sprung here in Nova Scotia.  Yesterday was a glorious day and I spent most of it outside working in the yard.  Usually when I am outside I have my ear buds in but yesterday I enjoyed hearing the sweet bird calls, the trees gently moving in the breezes and families enjoying their time in the sun.  The day inspired today's card with bright papers, a big happy flower and the flowery sweet sentiment, "Some people like flowers" from Quietfire Design's Garden Delights set:
Garden Delights, set of 8 stamps - Mounted
The layout was based on this week's MOJO Monday Sketch:
The sentiment was stamped using Coffee Archival Ink (by Ranger) onto Prima Marketing's Sun Kiss paper.
Tucked behind the sentiment are two half doilies- Cheery Lynn's Tiny French Pastry.  The flowers were from my stash as was the corrugated cardboard.
Thanks for stopping by!  Have a fabulous week!

Kathy Jo

"Remember" scrapbook page using newly released ECD die

Hello Crafty Friends!

How did you get started in papercrafting?  Was it a project for a party?  Or the desire to make a personal gift for someone special?  For me it was my sister, Bobby Jo.  She has four (of the most amazing) kids and she wanted to preserve memories in scrapbooks.  She asked if I could look for crafting supplies in my area...next thing I know, I am buying a few supplies for myself.  My first scrapbook pages were rudimentary- only paper, scissors, a glue stick and a corner rounder was in my stash.  Eventually the stash grew and so did my interests: cards.  Scrapbook pages are few and far between for me now.  However, when the new Elizabeth Craft Designs dies were released my thoughts once again turned to scrapbooking.  This is my second page shared this week!  The first page used the "Memories" die.  Today's page has the lovely "Remember" die:
Remember - Metal Cutting Die - Pre-Order
The photo was of my beautiful kitty, Daisy, and she was on the first scrapbook page I ever completed.  She has now passed so I wanted a special page for her in a scrapbook.  This photo of her is one of my favorites and the Remember die is a perfect elegant touch to her page.
The photo was mounted on Graphic 45's Botanical Tea patterned paper.  Remember was die cut in pink and mounted on a doily.  Two gold sequins were adhered on either side of the die cut and a half pearl applied.  Self adhesive lace was applied along the bottom edge of the page.
The page was simple as I did not want to distract from the image or the die.

Thank you for stopping by!  I do hope you enjoyed the scrapbook page.  Feel free to take a peek at all the new products released at Quietfire Design- the new releases include not only the new ECD dies but also very lovely stamps!

Have a happy, crafty day.
Hugs,
Kathy Jo

New Die Release! "Memories" Graphic 45 scrapbook page

Hello Crafters!  Kathy Jo here and I am so excited to share a project using one of the newly released A Way with Words dies, Memories:

Memories - Metal Cutting Die - Pre-Order
Love, love, love this new die!  As soon as I received it I knew that I had to use it on a scrapbook page for our new puppy, Teddy.  The photo of Teddy and my hubby is too sweet and the Memories die is a perfect pairing with the photo.  I made sure to accentuate the lovely die by placing it on layered banner dies:
Admittedly, I have only completed a few scrapbook pages in the past couple of years but the die really had my mojo going.  Funny how one die cut can spark creativity!  With such a pretty die, I decided to use some of my treasured Graphic 45 paper for page (Botanical Tea)...and I am so happy I did.
Now I have the first page in Teddy's scrapbook: "Memories".
I hope you enjoyed the Memories scrapbook page.  Feel free to hop on over to check out the other new lovely releases...well worth the trip!

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a happy, crafty day.  :)
Big Hugs,
Kathy Jo

Watercolor Poppy "Love you" card

Hello Crafty Friends!

Last week a friend of mine asked me to create a Mother's Day card for her mom.  I had just finished watercoloring Penny Black's poppy stamp and asked my friend what she thought of it.  She loved it so it became the focus of the card front.  In lieu of adding "Happy Mother's Day" to the card front, I decided to use Quietfire Design's happy "love you" stamp from the Just for You stamp set:
Just for You, Set of 4 Stamps - Mounted
The poppy was stamped using Jet Black Archival ink onto watercolor paper.  It was colored using Tim Holtz' Distress markers.  After drying, the image was die cut with Elizabeth Craft Designs' Stitched Rectangles.
Love you was also stamped with Archival Ink and die cut using Memory Box' Stitched Squares die.  Three light pink pearls were added.
American Craft card stock was die cut using more stitched dies and adhered to a tent fold white card.
My friend's mom received the card, she said she loved it and will keep it on display for a long time.  How nice!  That made me very happy knowing that she will enjoy it.  :)

Hope you all are having a happy, crafty day!
Big Hugs,
Kathy Jo
