Bright and Cheery Bicycle Birthday card

Hello All!  Today I am sharing a card at Quietfire Creations.  It is a quick and cheery Happy Birthday card using Quietfire's Happy Birthday Plain and Simple stamp set.  The set consists of the seven stamps shown below:

Happy Birthday Plain & Simple - Set of 7 Stamps

The card is also using a new die I purchased over the weekend, Spellbinders' In'spire die Bicycle.  Isn't it so cute?  It really goes well with the Kaisercraft paper, Bubblegum Hills.  The pad of paper even had little tags in the back...bonus!  Here is a closeup of the stamp on one of the tags:
I am beginning to realize I have an addiction to dies and to sentiment stamps.  LOL.  Big shocker, I know!

For more info on the card and products used, feel free to hop over to the Quietfire blog.  :)

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful week!

Fairy Tale Wedding card

Happy Sunday, Crafters!

Yesterday a friend of ours was married.  Of course I had to make a card but I did not want to make it too over the top girly so I set restrictions on myself: two layers, no bows, no Stickles and no flowers.  I did not adhere to the two layers restriction but it did fit in a standard envelope!  :)
The stamp was from Quietfire's Valentine's Day/Love stamp set.  It was die cut using Spellbinders Ovals and the edge had silver applied.  The next layer was Spellbinders' Elegant Ovals.  Four corners from Spellbinders Gold Elements was adhered as shown.  The lovely background paper was from Basic Grey's Little Black Dress.  Of course, I added some gems...but not a lot!  I showed very good restraint.  :) And although I reached for my Stickles, I resisted the urge and did not apply any.  (However, I made a card immediately after this one and I made sure to use the Stickles at will.  LOL)
In case you do not know the Quietfire stamp set, it is shown below.  It is a sweet set!

Graphic 45 and Quietfire Miracles card...

Yay!  It is the weekend!  I am squeezing in some crafty time tonight and just finished a card using Quietfire's "If you don't believe in miracles" stamp and some Graphic 45 paper.
Such a gorgeous stamp!  It goes well with the Graphic 45 paper, too.  The background paper is from Bird Song, the pink and white paper is from Secret Garden and the hummingbird was fussy cut from Botanical Tea.  The doilies are Cheery Lynn's Lilith Doily.

Well, I am making this post short.  Heading back to Craftville...population Me!
Have a great weekend!  Thanks so much for stopping by!
Big Hugs,
Kathy Jo

"Snowflakes are Kisses" Christmas card

Happy Friday, Crafteteers!

Don’t you just love Fridays?  The work week is done and all of the plans for the weekend are within reach.  This weekend will involve crafting, golf, a wedding and some ultimate Frisbee.  It will be a fun filled weekend.
Snowflakes are Kisses
I am sharing another Christmas card today.  As you may remember, one of my New Year’s resolutions this year was to make at least one Christmas card a month.  The resolution is going well as I have made over 10 cards since January 1st.  Although I am making a little over one card a month, I definitely need to increase that number now that August is almost at a close- perhaps ramp the quantity to a card every other week.  Although I completed one card last week, I decided to make another  Christmas card this week.  This card used Quietfire’sSnowflakes are Kisses stamp and Basic Grey’s Little Black Dress paper.
The dies used are Spellbinders’ Venetian Motifs and Spellbinders’ Circles.  The yarn is part of the Martha Stewart yarn collection and I used a Martha Stewart edge punch to create the horizontal band.  As you can see, I used several gems on the card front to simulate sparkly snow falling.
I probably won’t be able to make a lot of this one due to the quantity of gems but I may make a couple.  How are your Christmas cards coming along thus far?  Do you have many completed?  How many cards do you usually make for Christmas?

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Enjoy the weekend.
Hugs,
Kathy Jo

Thank You- Little Black Dress style

Hello!

How is your week going?  I hope well!  My hubby and I have had a busy but lovely week.  His dad, uncle and aunt were in town for a few days and it was such a great time.  I must admit I am very fortunate to have the most wonderful in-laws.  (Not a lot of people can say that!)  His family is so nice and laid back...talk about easy to get along with...I felt like I was the one on vacation!

After the family left I was able to dabble in the craft room for a bit.  I pulled out my new pad of paper- Basic Grey's Little Black Dress- and made a couple of cards.  The cards were completed in no time because they were easy to put together.  (Gotta love quick cards!)  Today I will share the thank you card I made.  The stamp used is from Quietfire's set of four thank you stamps.
Thank You, set of 4
The cursive sentiment seemed to match the patterned paper perfectly so I had to use it.  :)
The oval frame is Spellbinders Opulent Ovals.  On the cut out sentiment and oval is Tim Holtz' Distress Ink in Tea Dye.  I considered dyeing the seam binding in Tea Dye but I decided instead to keep it as white and let it pop off the card.  Inside the oval frame is a bling flourish and some feathers.
Thanks for stopping by!  Have a good day!
Hugs,
Kathy Jo

"Hold on to the Spirit of Christmas" card

http://daisysanddaffodils.blogspot.ca/
Happy Friday, Crafters!  Today is my day to share a project at Quietfire Creations. Last week I shared a scrapbook page I made using Quietfire’s gorgeous stamp “Hold on to the Spirit of Christmas”.  I liked using the stamp so much that I decided to use it on a Christmas card this week.

Chalkboard Thinking of You page

Well, I hope you are all sitting down when you hopped to this entry.  Another scrapbook page!  Holy smokes!  As you can see, I am still trying to figure out the best way to photograph a scrapbook page so please pardon the poor quality.

The sketch is as per Canadian Scrapbookers August Sketch challenge:
The materials used are Quietfire's Thinking of You stamp, Spellbinders dies from Mystical Embrace and Venetian Motifs, and My Mind's Eye Chalk Studio paper.

Honestly, if feels weird to do scrapbook pages again and I have a feeling it will take a while to get used to working on such a grand scale.  Hopefully the pages will start to look better, too!  However, I still had fun making it and I am happy to have finally documented one of my favorite time of day: watching Ella taking her dip in the dog park lake.

Have a good day and thanks for stopping by!
Hugs,
Kathy Jo

Happy Sunday, All!

Just a reminder that tomorrow is the last day to enter Quietfire's Tuesday Winsday giveaway for one of my favorite Quietfire stamp sets: Happy Birthday Plain and Simple.  Don't know what Tuesday Winsday is?  Every Tuesday Quietfire has a new giveaway- it can be a stamp set, a stamp set with a die, paper pads, etc.  The giveaways are fabulous and easy to enter.  I think this week's set is a must have for any card maker, especially.

I have used this stamp set a lot!  Here are a few samples below.

CAS Butterfly Birthday card

Friday!  YES!

Today I wanted to keep it simple and share a CAS card.  And it has a butterfly which makes it super cool.  :)
I applied Distress Ink in Scattered Straw and Spiced Marmalade onto scrap white card stock.  It was spritzed with water, dried and then spritzed with gold glimmer spray.  Scrap white card stock was die cut using Spellbinders Matting Basics and Deckled Mega Rectangles Large.  Quietfire's Happy Birthday stamp was added using black archival ink.  Black scrap paper was die cut using Les Papillions Two.
The white assembly was adhered to a tent fold black card.  I tried making another entire card from scrap paper but I did not have black scrap paper large enough...darn!

Thanks for popping over for this simple project.  Hope you all have a fantastic weekend!
Hugs,
Kathy Jo

Christmas scrapbook page- Graphic 45 and Quietfire

Hello!

Today is my day to share a project at Quietfire so I decided to share a scrapbook page I made.  Yep.  Scrapbook page.  It does not happen often but when it does I need to share.  :)

The photo is of my handsome hubby and exceptionally cute Saint Bernard, Ella.  We had just taken Ella for a long walk so she was a little dirty but her "formal wear" (aka her barrel) made up for it.
The paper used was from various Graphic 45 collections (Twelve Days of Christmas, Nutcracker Sweet, Place in Time).  Also used were Cheery Lynn's die Pinwheel Doily, Memory Box' dies Delicate Vine and Holly Branch.  The gorgeous sentiment used was Quietfire's "Hold on to The Spirit of Christmas" stamped in Memento's Rich Cocoa.  Here is a better image of the stamp below:
Hold on to the Spirit of Christmas
Bling, lace and Stickles were applied as shown.  Distress inks in Antique Linen, Vintage Photo, and Walnut Stain were applied to all paper edges.

If you are preparing cards or other paper crafts using holiday sentiments, then you should hop over to Quietfire- all holiday stamps (Christmas, Thanksgiving, Valentine's Day, etc) are 30% off!  Woo-who!

Thanks for stopping by!
Have a lovely day!

Wanderlust butterfly and Graphic 45 card

Hi Crafters!

Cardabilities has a lovely new sketch this week and I automatically thought of this Cheery Lynn doily die ( Lillith Doily).  Lucky me, Cheery Lynn's challenge this week is Anything Goes.  Woo-who!
The gorgeous paper is from Graphic 45's Olde Curiosity Shoppe and I must admit it was difficult to cut into the paper.  It is such a vibrant and beautiful pattern!  A beautiful pattern adorned with butterflies requires a beautiful stamp so I used Quietfire's Wanderlust stamp.  I cut it into a pennant flag shape and applied Vintage Photo ink along the edges.
Bling was added along two edges and metal photo corners were applied on all four corners.  Stickles was applied on the wings of all of the butterflies.
Thanks so much for stopping by!
Have a good one!
Hugs,

Kathy Jo

The Magic Of Christmas Never Ends...

Happy Monday!

In Nova Scotia we are celebrating Natal Day and many of us have the day off from work (I just high fived myself).  In keeping with the Natal Day spirit, I decided to make a Christmas card.  :)

The card is using the negative space technique as per the JustRite challenge this fortnight.  Spellbinders 2010 Heirloom Ornament dies were used to create the negative space.  Also used were the following Spellbinders goodies: Grand Rectangles, Labels Seventeen, Labels Four and Imperial M-Bossabilities folder.
The sentiment is from JustRite's stamp set Christmas Inner Thoughts.
The shimmery red and gold paper is Recollections and the burlap paper is DCWV.
Thanks so much for stopping by!
Hugs,
Kathy Jo

The Woods Would be Very Silent

Hello! Hope your weekend has been fun with some crafty time, too.

A fellow teamie at Quietfire Design was the influence for this card.  Yogi has challenged herself since Feb 2012 to use all of the scrap card stock and scrap designer paper she has collected.  Well, Yogi, this card was made entirely from scraps in my bins.  Yay!  You are such a good influence.  :)
The Woods Would be Very Silent - Set of 5 Stamps
The stamps used are from Quietfire's The Woods Would be Very Silent stamp set.  For those that read carefully then you may thought I had a typo...nope...I used two stamps on this card.  The main sentiment in black was stamped on the vellum and also the large bird from the set was stamped on the entire background.  It was embossed in clear glitter embossing powder.  You can see the bird peeking out to the right side of the postage die.
I may not remember the sources of all of the scraps but I do know the dies used: Spellbinders Postage Stamps, Squares, and Feathers.

Thanks so much for stopping by!
Have a great day!
Hugs,
Kathy Jo

Christmas Waves a Magic Wand...

Hello All!

Can you believe it is August already?  As I am typing the cicadas are outside making their cicada sound.  I remember hearing them as a child and thinking that summer had past its peak.  When I saw the sedum in bloom I knew that school was soon to start.  Funny the things we remember!

Today I am sharing a Christmas card I made as per a sketch from a fellow blogging buddy, Jessi, at One Crafty Mama.  She is a member of the Tuesday Morning Sketches team and her card using the sketch is so cute.

The card base is 4.5"x6.25" white card stock.  The patterned paper (My Mind's Eye All Is Bright) was embossed using Cuttlebug's Poppy folder.  Next is Cheery Lynn's French Pastry Doily in white, Spellbinders Fleur de Lis Squares in gold paper and Spellbinders Squares in white.
The sentiment is from Quietfire Design- Christmas waves a magic wand- and is heat embossed.
The ribbon is from my scrap bin and I think it came off a Christmas package.  You know you are a crafter when you save all bows, ribbon and tissue paper from gifts!

If you like the stamp, feel free to hop on over to the Quietfire site and see the collection of holiday stamps.  They are all on sale right now for 30% off.  Bonus: the flat shipping rate in Canada for the stamps is only $3.90 for the package.  :)

Thanks so much for stopping by!
Have a wonderful weekend.
Hugs,
Kathy Jo
